if I could give negative stars, I would
I am compelled to share my incredibly disappointing experience with Carlos, who came highly recommended by our real estate agent. Trusting his abilities, I thought it a good idea to hire him not just as a home inspector but also as a contractor for some minor work needed in the property I purchased. Little did I know that this decision would turn into a significant regret.
To start, we enlisted Carlos’s services for basic tasks: changing light switches, installing outlets, hanging doors, placing smoke detectors, and a bit of patching and painting. While I’ve owned multiple properties and often hired inspectors who double as contractors, Carlos's work was unlike any I’ve encountered.
First off, the timeline was outrageous. What should have been a straightforward job turned into a three-day saga with Carlos and his team still nowhere near completion. Upon returning home, my wife and I were met with what can only be described as a disaster. Rather than addressing wall holes properly, his solution was to simply paint over them—seriously! The outlets were haphazardly installed at odd angles, creating an eyesore rather than the clean finish one would expect.
Moreover, I didn't anticipate a construction zone mess upon arrival. While I understand that some dust and debris are standard, I expected them to at least clean up the aftermath of their work. Instead, it looked like a bomb had gone off.
As if that wasn't enough, there was damage to our granite countertop. It appeared that someone had carelessly placed a tool on it, resulting in a noticeable chip. When I brought this to Carlos's attention, he dismissed it, claiming it was already there. This leaves me questioning either his thoroughness during the inspection or the integrity of his team. Either way, it’s unacceptable.
To top it all off, the invoice was jaw-droppingly inflated, charging two to three times what a reasonable handyman would. The poor quality of work, combined with the exorbitant pricing, left us feeling completely taken advantage of.
After careful consideration, I've decided to warn others about our experience. It would be a disservice to the community not to share how utterly dissatisfied I am

We loved him as a person, but would never hire him again to inspect a house.
Carlos Saldarriaga inspected 5 houses for us, and we didn't buy 4 of them, because we trusted him, and there was something seriously wrong with 4 of the, so we continued to pay him for the next inspection. We liked up and trusted him as a person. However, we bought the 5th house, inspected by him, and it turned out that the house had mold we had to remediated immediately costing us almost $3000, and then two different termite inspectors and exterminators came later and told us that the house was infested with termites. We had to replace the whole floors upstairs over $5000, and treatment for termites cost between $800 and $1700 we tried talking to Carlos and he's refusing to answer the calls and texts since then.
