As a real estate agent with more than 20 years of experience, I have worked with countless home inspectors, and I can honestly say I have never experienced an inspection this disappointing.
Unfortunately, Matt came highly recommended, which made the experience even more disappointing. Several areas of the home that were visually apparent and should have been identified during a thorough inspection were not properly inspected or reported. Mold, damaged plumbing, and foundation and structural concerns were among the significant issues that were overlooked. In my experience, these are the types of concerns an experienced inspector should identify and document for the buyer.
There were numerous other significant issues throughout the property that were also missed. These were not obscure or hidden defects; they were conditions that, in my opinion, should have been identified during a careful and comprehensive professional inspection.
After these concerns were brought to the inspector’s attention, he provided his E&O insurance information. Unfortunately, even after seeking additional guidance regarding the situation, the buyer was left dealing with the consequences of significant problems that I believe should have been brought to their attention during the inspection process.
Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience for everyone involved.
I strongly encourage agents, buyers, and homeowners to carefully consider their options when selecting an inspector. Based on my experience, I would not use this inspector again and would be very hesitant to recommend this company to others. The stress, frustration, and potential financial consequences associated with an inspection that does not identify significant concerns can be substantial.
